ISIS vs. the Iraqi army: A breakdown of their firepower

The jihadist group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Al-Sham is vastly outnumbered by, and much more roughly equipped than, the Iraqi army, which has received billions of dollars in U.S. military weaponry and gear in recent years.

But militant fighters have repeatedly rolled through Iraqi forces to seize large swaths of northern Iraq, including the major city of Mosul, and are said to be pushing south toward Baghdad.
